The Laurel Inn, Robin Hood's Bay

Grade II Listed · Early 18th Century

The quirkiest, smallest, friendliest pub in the bay.

A beamed bar, a roaring cast-iron fire, and rooms above — right in the heart of Robin Hood's Bay. Loved by locals, discovered by everyone else.

Welcome

The best pub in the world — its guests say so.

Tucked into New Road at the bottom of Robin Hood's Bay, The Laurel Inn is a proper local: an immaculately kept, beamed bar with a cast-iron range and the open fire roaring. No fruit machines, no jukebox — just cask ale, good company, and a fire that's always lit.

Upstairs, two letting flats give guests a place to stay right where the bay's cobbled streets end and the sea begins. The older, eastern half of the building dates from the early 18th century, built alongside the adjacent Maid Marion cottage — the sandstone western extension came later.

“Beautiful little pub with lots of character. Great vibe in there if you’re into your old traditional pubs. 3 ales on and the one I had was lovely. Really friendly and chatty young man behind the bar who’s a credit to the place.”
